The primary objectives of the workshops are: –
· Introduce sport psychology and its position within the Sports Participation Model
· Challenge the coaches to review their coaching philosophy in relation to their performance level
· Explain the key components of sport psychology – the 4C’s of Commitment, Confidence, Concentration & Control.
· Develop the coaching skills of the coaches through the use of sport psychology within the 3 Stages of Performance – Preparation, Performance & Evaluation.
Session 1
This session will focus on the role of sport psychology in conjunction with the other elements of the Sports Participation Model i.e. Technical, Tactical & Physical Fitness.
Session 2
This session will look at the Coaching Philosophy of the coaches and how this philosophy transfers into coaching behaviours. I will challenge the coaches to review how their coaching behaviours impact on player’s performance.
Session 3
We will look at the 4C’s of sport psychology. Confidence – the importance of confidence in coaching players. Commitment – how to improve commitment in sport. Concentration – how to improve concentration to aid sports performance. Control – the importance of self-control in producing top performance.
Session 4
We will review the use sport psychology techniques to assist in the preparation for performance (dealing with anxiety), key performances issues (dealing with mistakes, game focus & confidence challenges) and evaluation (post game review).

Topic One: Planning & Preparation for the Euro’s

Includes, player assessments, fitness overview – the components of fitness, designing a training programme (mess, macro, micro cycles), setting clear goals and objectives, foundations for fitness and building a sustainable programme, tapering/peaking for key dates, fitness testing, setting priorities.

Topic Two: Presentation Skills & Leading Teams

Includes, team building, team dynamics, presentation methodology, coaching pedagogy, principles of leadership for leading teams, retro analysis and reverse engineering, focus and clarity to maximise your sessions

Topic Three –  Communication

Includes, the keys to effective communication, getting the best from your players, effective feedback sessions, setting boundaries, defining roles and responsibilities, creating a healthy environment.

There are likely to be 9 or 10 divisions at the 2016 European Championships.  ITA will not be fielding teams in all divisions based on the current information.  The final teams nominated will be decided on the balance of participation and performance.

This is week one of the selection trials for the following teams for the 2016 European Touch Championships.

Trials will be conducted from 09:00 until 11:15 at Stepaside.
Players should arrive at 08:30 for a 09:00 start.

The process will be:
1  Players, coaches and managers need to complete the online Selection Trial Registration form.   You can nominate two selection preferences.
There is a €10 fee which MUST be paid before you trial.   This will cover the cost of ground hire and insurance.
2.  The ITA will review the nominations and determine the final teams that players may trial for.
3.  Selections will be done by the coach and two selectors not in that team.
4.  Squad selections will be announced the week commencing Monday 8th February.

If you are unable to attend either of the trial dates, you will only be considered if you have lodged a dispensation request in accordance with the ITA DOC 1.1 National Player Selection Policy.  You must complete the dispensation section of the online Selection Trial Registration form to fulfil this requirement.

Saturday 5th March
09:00-10:30 Advanced Game Plans (theoretical principles)
This segment will look at developing an advanced game plan at the International level. The developing of game plans requires not only a very developed understanding of the various game elements but importantly a comprehensive appreciation of the tactics and strategies of the contemporary game. The presenter will link the game plan used by an Australian team at a World Cup as an exemplar for what is required by all coaches in developing their players for representative or advanced touch.

11:00-12:30 Attacking Drills & Strategies (practical demonstration)
This segment will explore a range of drills and training games designed to develop many contemporary game elements. Drills will focus on both individual skill prerequisites as well as team skills critical to attacking effectively against today’s structured defences. While many drills involve advanced concepts, they are broken down to a level suitable for all ages and levels of ability.

Defensive Policies & Drills (both theory and practical elements)
This segment is in two parts. Firstly the presenters will focus on the importance of individual skill through basic drills before exploring the main line defensive policies used today as well as a defensive policy for applying pressure on a change of possession. The appropriate drills to reinforce these policies will also be reviewed.

This Coach and Player Camp is an opportunity for coaches and players to benefit from the knowledge gained from the Coaching Clinic on the 5th and 6th March.  On the Saturday all Open and Senior teams will train and be coached by the visiting coaches.

On the Sunday, junior teams will benefit from the visiting elite visiting coaches..
